We at Snap Italy love the history of fashion and we like to bring you back in time, telling you the secrets of the famous and iconic clothes of our Belpaese. Behind the clothes, in fact, there are incredible stories made of talent, sacrifices and (sometimes) a bit of luck, and among the thousands of creations that we all remember are those that have helped make Made in Italy legendary. Between red carpet and royal weddings, cinematic masterpieces and social events, Italy is among the undisputed protagonists of the fashion system. The style of our fashion houses manages to win over the public and the celebrities, who continue to choose our beloved designers year after year.
Let"s discover together what are the 10 famous clothes that, over time, have helped to create the myth of Made in Italy ...
Ava Gardner
It was 1956 when a dress destined to become iconic was born in the Atelier delle Sorelle Fontana. Created and created by Zoe, the eldest of the sisters, the figure was made by a very young Renato Balestra, who at the time was a designer for the Atelier Fontana. Nicknamed pretino, the creation from the Talare line, was inspired by the clothes of the seminarians of the Germanic College. It was a wool and silk dress, flared and trimmed with buttons long under the knee and completed by a saturn hat on the head and a crucifix on the chest. Designed for Ava Gardner summer cocktail dresses, the model was then taken over by costume designer Piero Gherardi for Anita Ekberg in the film La Dolce Vita by Federico Fellini.
Jennifer Lopez
In 1967, during an official visit to Cambodia Gillne.com, the then first lady Jackie Kennedy wore a wonderful one-shoulder dress signed by Valentino. The Italian couturier, it is well known, was a close friend of Jackie and often took care of his looks. But this was certainly one of the most famous and iconic in history, so much so that it was "unearthed" by Jennifer Lopez in 2003, at the Oscars ceremony.
Cindy Crawford in VERSACE
We arrive at the house that has given us the largest number of famous clothes in the history of Made in Italy. Often linked to necklines and scandalous slits, these clothes have also contributed to the debut in the fashion scene of many celebrities. One of these is certainly the supermodel Cindy Crawford, the muse of Gianni Versace, who on the occasion of the 63rd edition of the Oscar award ceremony on 25 March 1991 wore a creation by the Italian designer. It was a long red evening dress, with a generous neckline.
